History of Saint Joseph`s Home

 SJH was established as fifth property of regional Charity Červený Kostelec in beautiful campus of former Jesuits abbey near Kuks. Home was used as retirement home from 1960 to 2000. That was later transferred to new building in Dvůr Králové. And in 2001 it was rebuild for needs of patients with MS.

2001

• First phase of reconstruction (September)
• Opening of first department (December)

2002

• Second phase of reconstruction including church and attic (September)
• Opening of second department – permanent residence (December)

2003

• Opening of helping centre and rental of aids for people disabled wits MS and opening of educational centre (May)
• Third phase of reconstruction including cellar (August)
• Start of rehabilitation centre (December)

2004

• Opening of third department – short term residence (March)
• Reconstruction of Garden House, project Protected apartments for seniors taking care of their relatives with MS (October)
• Reconstruction of courtyard of SJH (November)

2005

• Testing of Protected apartments (May)
• In campus of SJH the workshops – artistic, IT and snack bar are opened (November)

2006

• Opening of kitchen, shop and gardening (July)
• Retrofitting of all rooms with the Erilens lifting device (November, December)
• Celebration of the 5th anniversary of the home, filming of the document on the program Klíč by Czech Television - December 7, 2006 (December)

2007

• Presentation of Home in Velehrad on the occasion of Days of People of Good Will - proceeds 502,000 CZK devoted to the completion of the House in the Garden (July)
• Adjusting the parcel in front of the Home and installing the sundial (Autumn)

 2008

• Launch of the Park Restoration Project (March)
• Opening of Garden House and park – accommodation in 8 rooms, new paths in park (July)
• New relax zone not only for patients (End of year)

2009

• Place for meeting seniors with kids, disabled with healthy (Spring)
• Restoration of unique Zvonkohra (February)
• Start of project "Rescue of cultural heritage in campus SJH"

2010

• Reconstruction of 6 protected monument completed (December)

2011

• Opening Project "Rescue of cultural heritage in campus SJH" with presence of Norwegian ambassador (April)
• Workshop in new building (October)

2012

• Start of project for herbal garden for patients (May)

2013

• Herbal Garden was completed (June)
• Restauration of Altar was completed (June)

2015

• Extension of SJH was completed and now we can handle 44 patients more with MS
